I finally got my permit. Now, I just need to have it for 6 months and then I will be able to get my license. It took me 2 times to pass my permit test though. I was nervous the first time.

Blitz
I'm on a break from myself.  I just want to relax and be happy.  I want to not have to worry about who I'm texting and where I've been and why I haven't called back yet.  I just want to 'be' for a minute.  Let me breathe, it feels good out here.  My windows are down and when I think about calling you, it makes me happy.

Every time I breathe in the chemicals of summer I hear the relentless water carving out the shore.  My windows are open and voices loft up a story to distract me from my reading.  Between the trunks of trees I can make out the slowing of a boat with dinner on its deck and generations of fathers drunk from the beating sun and reflective lake.  I used to wake my mom up at ten and think she was wasting her time in a stranger's bed when there was a raft waiting to take me to the other side.  Now the beach is no longer mine, but I'm still too young to man the kitchen so I sit on the dock in my awkward stage of life wanting the time to speed up or slow down, but never to still.  I'm not exactly leading anyone and I continue to follow when I get lazy, but I leave for hours and I'm not missed.  I walk down the road I've walked a hundred times before in late Augusts gone stale.

I never think about those Augusts when I'm alone.  But you made me remember and this shirt, this one with the faint smell or mosquito repellant and smoke can take me back there.  I want to remember those nights and I want to show you where they happened.  That is, if you show me where you were while I was looking up at glittering lights on cold Wisconsin nights.

Ah well...
The woman from the Actors' Center (in NYC) that I've been playing phone-tag this week left me another answering machine message today...saying that they've gone ahead and offered their admin job to someone else. She said she'd wanted to get in touch with me because she loved my cover letter though, so I guess that's something! :) (I basically gushed about how passionate I am about the theatre, which is totally true of course.)

Got my absentee ballot (for the August primary, which I am working!) in the mail today...ah, my last time voting in Michigan. Can't wait to be a New York voter! I may actually try election work there too at some point, I've checked out their site and apps and stuff for pollworkers; they even offer easy positions like "door clerk," which is basically just standing at the door and making sure people can access the building okay, etc. etc.! Cool. They pay a flat rate of $200, too...I wonder if they even have precinct chairpersons (chairpeople?), it doesn't look like it? Howard (from the city clerk's office here, our election recruiter guy) has been bemoaning my imminent departure, since it means losing both of the awesome Packard sisters...

Off to another Mikado rehearsal!

MTV is doing the time warp on a remake of 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Lou Adler, exec producer of the original film, is partnering with BermanBraun and Fox Television Studios on the new rendition.

Two-hour remake will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien but may also include music not featured in the original.

that's just wrong, on so many levels.. thanks to [info]revolos55 for alerting me to this travesty..

Storms
Stirling had quite a violent thunderstorm yesterday. I have lots of debris in my yard that will have to be cleared. Besides tree branches, there is also a piece of cut wood. I'm not sure where that came from.

Grar!
Okay, so, this morning I noticed my Visa was missing...I thought maybe it had just fallen out in my bedroom or something, but I checked my online banking statement right away, and sure enough, someone made a bunch of charges last night on my card (I used it yesterday afternoon, so apparently I lost it sometime last night, maybe in Jackson?) - to gas stations in Detroit, wtf? :P (One of em for like $50, grr! Obviously not mine, since I don't even have a car.) I called the bank, and they've shut off my card, and thankfully are filing a claim and will get all the bogus charges taken off - apparently there are even more they made and tried to make that haven't even shown up on the online thing yet, including some tavern, lol. I don't get why these dumbasses would try to use a stolen card when, hello, people are gonna notice when they've lost a card and can obviously see and stop the fake crap! Well, I hope they get pissed when they discover that my card ain't gonna work for them anymore...sheesh.

The only sucky thing is, I only had like $6 in cash on me today (and I just used it all on breakfast)...thankfully Margie's taking me out to lunch, so I don't have to worry about buying lunch. And I can obviously always go in to the bank to get cash b4 I get a new card. It seems a waste to get a new card anyway, since I am soon gonna close this account (and open one with Chase, since they actually have branches in Manhattan! I also have a coupon to get $125 when opening a new Chase checking account, yay!)...I need to keep this one a little longer so I can write some checks with it though, cuz I won't be getting Chase checks right away...

At least my Facebook horoscope for today says something about how I'm gonna get an unexpected financial windfall or something soon, so, that's promising! ;)

So I am watching this Black in America segment and it brought up an interesting fact about black kids in America, that some of them are just better off in Turkey. Black kids drop out rate is still ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I love to learn and educate myself because I was raised that way but some teachers at my school don't know how to execute their skills of teaching. So, I am going to keep educating myself because I want to make it and make life easier for my parents and someone else. I think this makes me wanna try now in school now and maybe study.
